Description: About the Role This position reports to the Manager of the Prototype Shop. This is a leadership position managing non-bargaining unit Shop Supervisors and ~35 bargaining unit Driver Mechanics. The selected candidate must demonstrate strong leadership qualities such as integrity, resilience, accountability, decision making, communication, empathy and respect.

Prototype Shop Area Manager - Vehicle Build and Assembly Position Description: - Area Manager in the Vehicle Assembly (Hi-Bay) area within the Prototype Shop organization.
- Individual will be responsible for all vehicle assembly development efforts for both new product and existing product improvements, to ensure build plans are executed within schedule and budget.
- Direct management of bargaining unit employees in the vehicle assembly, paint booth and hose fabrication areas.
- Manage unique aspects of providing driver/mechanic BU employees for test site activities.
- Coordinate with Union Leadership on matters including but not limited to overtime, travel, training, personnel issues.
- Provide leadership, coaching and direction for personnel to ensure customers' needs are met.
- Conduct daily status meetings and cross-shift meetings as necessary.
- Ensure personnel are trained/certified to perform operations prior to job assignments.
- Create, maintain, and foster an environment of continuous improvement and lean strategies, reduce cycle times, floor inventory, reduce costs and improve employee participation and satisfaction.
- Facilitate the development of team members as a Whole Systems Business Model (WSBM) Team Advisor.
- Perform hands on scheduling of tasks (e.g., leading or supporting assembly, interfacing with Engineering and/or program management to resolve issues).
- Provide input on quotations/bids for new work.
- Attend build meetings and provide status to Program Leadership.
- Track job performance and be able to present status to upper management.
- Utilize various systems/applications and maintain compliance with department processes and procedures including ISO and IPS standards.
- Develop SMART personal and business performance goals for shop supervisors.
- Complete quarterly/annual performance reviews and compensation discussions.
Qualifications Sought: - Minimum of Bachelors degree (Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree).
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in a manufacturing/engineering/related role.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective customer relationships.
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Powerpoint).
- Experience working in Teamcenter, Vis Mockup, Power BI preferred.
- Ability to meet ASR (Anthropometric Size Requirements) and able to climb/enter Military vehicles.
- Must be able to comply with all Health & Safety requirements.
- Must successfully complete background check and pre-employment medical process to include a drug screen.
- Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required.
- Ability to travel as needed.
