College/Department Information

Augusta University Libraries provide books, ebooks, government publications, journals, audiovisuals, databases, historical collections, and more, in support of student and faculty research. We provide research assistance in person and electronically and also provide tours and instruction classes for undergraduate, graduate and professional students. Students can request appointments with librarians, including specialized medical reference librarians, for more in-depth research needs. Thousands of research journals are available electronically, in person and remotely - through research databases held in GALILEO and elsewhere, with many available full text.

Job Summary

This position provides support to the evening and weekend staff by providing circulation and other access services, answering or referring user questions, shelving and shifting physical library materials, and assisting with library special projects as needed.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

SERVICE: Provide circulation and other access services to faculty, staff, and students, and community

INFORMATION ASSISTANCE: Provide accurate basic reference assistance at the Information Desk

ADMINISTRATIVE: Maintain physical book and journal stacks, including shelving, shifting and shelf reading

SPECIAL PROJECTS: Assist with library special projects

OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High School diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization

Preferred Qualifications

Some college preferred
Some library experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases

SKILLS

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills

ABILITIES

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to understand and answer or refer user requests for information.

Ability to use the basic circulation functions of the library information system.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: This is a part-time, evening and weekends position.

This position is .49 FTE (19.6 hours per week)

Pay Grade: B1

Salary: $15.00/hourly

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
