Job Description

As the Machine / CNC Operator, you will play a key role in the production department of Juniper’s unique, innovative lighting solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performing preventive maintenance on assigned machines.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Set up and operate machinery, including milling machines, lathes, grinders, sanders, and other equipment, according to established procedures and guidelines.
  • Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation on multiple pieces of equipment. 
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to set machines and confirm conformance to specifications. 
  • Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and timely.
  • Inspect parts to specifications and adjust tool changes to maintain quality specifications.
  • Troubleshoot issues, perform maintenance, and report problems to the supervisor. 
  • Communicating regularly with the Lead CNC Machinist and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high-quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials.
  • Assist with miscellaneous shop maintenance, repairs, and cleaning of tools and equipment.
  • Ability to input machining information in machining logs.
  • Keeping the work area clean and organized by utilizing 5S principles. 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience as a Machine Operator or in a similar role. 
  • Certificate in Machine Shop Technology or Machine Tool Technology/Machinist a plus. 
  • Proven experience operating CNC machinery, tooling, and precision measurement tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow standardized work, and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions and complete logs and reports.
  • Excellent mechanical skills and an interest in tools and fabrication.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • Ability to work in a team. 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended or continuous periods.
  • Ability to climb staircases, ladders, and step stools. 
  • Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, balance, and climb occasionally.
  • Ability to operate machinery and associated equipment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
