Job Title : Enterprise Data Modeler

Location : Richmond, VA (Hybrid: 2-3 days onsite, 2-3 days remote)

• Onsite Work : Must be willing to work onsite 2-3 days a week (required, no exceptions).
• Interview : Onsite interview required (no exceptions).
• Location : Candidate must physically reside in the United States for the duration of the assignment.
• Commonwealth of Virginia security policies prohibit the use of offshore IT contractors

Job Description :

• Data Modeling :

  • Create conceptual data models to identify key business entities, their relationships, and define concepts and rules.
  • Translate business needs into logical and physical data models, including documentation for team reference.
  • Develop canonical and "Data as a Service" models to support integrations.

• Data Profiling and Governance :

  • Perform data profiling/analysis to establish, modify, and maintain data models.
  • Enforce data models and naming standards across deliverables.
  • Establish processes for governing metadata collection and usage to ensure accuracy and validity.
  • Track data quality, completeness, and redundancy and recommend improvements.

• Integration and Testing :

  • Analyze data-related system integration challenges and propose strategic solutions.
  • Implement business rules for data reconciliation and deduplication.
  • Support and use Master Data Management (MDM) toolkits for source system integration.

• Planning and Security :

  • Conduct data capacity planning, lifecycle analysis, usage feasibility studies, and related tasks.
  • Develop strategies for data security, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
  • Ensure data strategies and architectures comply with applicable data privacy practices and regulations.

• Communication and Collaboration :

  • Present and communicate data modeling results to stakeholders and development teams.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure alignment to the defined architecture and governance processes.
  • Document and report results, ensuring all team members are informed of progress and changes.

• 10+ years of experience in:
  • Creating conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Data profiling and analysis for maintaining data models.
  • Addressing data integration challenges with strategic approaches.
  • Developing canonical models and implementing SOA to support integrations.
  • Enforcing data models, naming standards, and governing corporate metadata usage.
  • Conducting data capacity planning, lifecycle analysis, and usage requirement studies.
  • Presenting data modeling results to stakeholders and explaining technical features.
• Experience with MDM toolkits and integrating source systems.
• Strong understanding of data reconciliation , deduplication , and tracking processes.
• Proficiency in writing queries using SQL , Python , R , or Scala .
• Hands-on experience with data technologies such as Azure Synapse , SQL Server , Snowflake , and Databricks .
• Strong knowledge of data privacy practices and laws.
