Job Description Summary:
The Clinical Research Supervisor is responsible for managing a team of research professionals who participate in clinical research work to include the collection, compilation, documentation, and analysis of clinical research data. Supervisor duties include assigning work, setting goals, and assessing performance.


Clinical Research Supervisor may also manage assigned clinical research studies by supervising a variety of complex activities involved in the collection, compilation, documentation, and analysis of clinical research data. Participates in periodic quality assurance audits of protocols. Supports the development of study budgets, contracts, and grant applications.

This position is expected to work on site with little to no remote work.

Job Duties Outlined
  • Acts as the hiring manager and direct supervisor for a clinical research team and is responsible for management and performance of direct reports.
  • Responsible for team specific training and onboarding in collaboration with Comprehensive Integrated Research Operations (CIRO) Operations team.
  • Leads and manages the study start-up process in collaboration with Comprehensive Integrated Research Operations (CIRO)research administration and regulatory teams.
  • Responsible for team workflow management - delegating and assigning trials based on team ability and capacity.
  • Will be required to provide cross coverage for the clinical research team and act as a Senior Clinical Research Coordinator as required.
  • Attend continuing education, research and training seminars as requested by manager.
  • Interact and collaborate closely with Research Administration and Human Research Protection Program and have a significant working knowledge of KUMC policies and procedures.
  • Assist Principal Investigator with internal and external funding application submissions.

Required Qualifications

Education : Associate degree or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and work experience that equals at least 2 years.

Certifications: At least one of the following certifications
  • Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC)
  • Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP)
Work Experience :
  • Six years of related work experience
  • Advanced understanding of regulations governing clinical research (CFR, GCP, HIPAA).
  • Advanced understanding of statutes and guidelines relevant to regulatory affairs in clinical research.
  • Experience with study budgets, contracts, and grant applications.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in relevant field

Work Experience:
  • Previous experience managing teams or personnel.
  • Business and financial acumen to assist in developing study budgets, contracts, and grant applications.
  • Experience mentoring and training junior staff.

Skills
  • Ability to fully contribute to multidisciplinary teams including physicians, administrative staff.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
