Job Description

Concert Golf Partners is seeking a dynamic and hands-on Assistant General Manager (AGM) to oversee daily operations and deliver exceptional member and guest experiences for Hiwan Golf Club.

The AGM will actively support the General Manager while fostering a culture of high performance and collaboration among staff. This role encompasses overseeing key club operations, including recruiting, training, and leading food and beverage teams, maintaining exceptional quality standards, and coordinating member events. Additionally, the AGM will contribute to budget planning, enforce club policies, and cultivate strong relationships with members, guests, and employees to ensure an outstanding club experience.

The ideal candidate will have a hands-on management style, excel in team leadership, and bring innovative ideas to elevate club services and operations.

Key Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight:
  • Direct and manage daily operations to ensure the Club’s high standards of service and quality are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Be knowledgeable of and comply with the Club’s standards, policies, and regulations to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • This is a hands-on position; the candidate will actively engage in all operations, prioritizing service over office tasks.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Interview, hire, and train employees as needed.
  • Clearly define roles and expectations for managers and staff while fostering high morale.
  • Coach, counsel, motivate, and discipline staff; hold them accountable and monitor performance regularly.
  • Ensure effective orientation for new staff and professional development opportunities for experienced staff.

Financial and Administrative Management:

  • Oversee scheduling to minimize overtime and keep labor costs within budget.
  • Audit and approve biweekly payroll.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies, budgets, and action plans; take corrective action as needed to achieve financial goals.
  • Approve product invoices and provide updated financial information to the Accounting Department.
  • Maintain accurate records of events, inventory, and daily business volumes.

Food and Beverage Operations:

  • Manage purchasing of food, beverages, supplies, and equipment while maintaining cost controls.
  • Oversee service quality, sanitation, and cleanliness standards in all areas.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with alcoholic beverages and other regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and monitor sanitation and cleaning schedules.

Member and Guest Experience:

  • Greet members and guests and oversee service regularly to ensure satisfaction.
  • Assist in service during peak times or as needed to maintain operational excellence.
  • Assist in planning and approving marketing and sales promotion activities for club events and outlets.

Facility and Equipment Management:

  • Inspect supplies, equipment, and organization to ensure efficiency, safety, and cleanliness.
  • Maintain equipment and coordinate maintenance schedules and repairs as needed.

Collaboration and Strategic Planning:

  • Work with the corporate team to develop and execute operational strategies.
  • Establish quantity and quality output standards for all staff.
  • Serve as a member of the Club’s management team, providing necessary reporting and updates to leadership.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to ensure objectives are continuously met or exceeded.
  • Monitor market trends to stay competitive and relevant in the industry.

Miscellaneous Duties:

  • Attend staff meetings to provide input and updates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Club/Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role within the hospitality or private club industry.
  • Proven experience with payroll cost controls, Microsoft Office Suite, and POS systems (Northstar experience is a plus).
  • Food safety and alcohol service certifications.

  • Work with and understand financial data, applying basic arithmetic functions and concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

About Hiwan Golf Club:

Hiwan Golf Club is a private golf and country club located in Evergreen, Colorado, USA. Just twenty-five miles west of downtown Denver, off of Interstate Highway 70, you will find us in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains situated at an elevation of 7,665 feet (2,336 meters), which places us almost half a mile higher than Zermatt, Switzerland. Despite our lofty location, we offer our members challenging emerald green fairways each summer with stunning mountain vistas. Our prime golf season extends from April to October, although Hiwan members have played the course in every month of the year. Hiwan Golf Club was founded in 1962 and has a rich history of golf tradition. Most of the biggest names of golf have played this course, and we hosted the USGA Girls’ Junior in 1965 and the USGA Junior Amateur for boys in 1976. We founded the Colorado Open in 1964 and hosted the tournament until 1991. In 2011, we hosted the prestigious Junior America's Cup. In addition to our famed course, we offer an array of amenities including a family-friendly, resort-style pool, fitness center, library, 5 tennis courts, 3 pickleball courts, and a golf simulator. While tee times are not available for non-members except as the guest of a Hiwan member, we encourage you to support one of the many charitable golf events held on Mondays from May to October. Banquet and special-event catering services, however, are available to non-members. After 56 years of successful ownership, the baton was passed to Concert Golf Partners. Our new owners will bring an infusion of capital, fresh ideas, and a commitment to elevating Hiwan as the premier family-friendly country club in the area. Over 2 million dollars of capital improvements are expected to begin as early as fall 2022.
