Job Description

LifeFormations is looking to hire an experienced Welder. Must have strong problem solving and communication skills to coordinate efforts within a larger team and process.

LifeFormations specializes in the design and fabrication of animatronic figures, sculpted elements, exhibits and interactive experiences. Our work can be found internationally in leading theme parks, museums, science centers, and branded spaces.

Welder is responsible for the building of mechanical and structural elements used in animatronics and metal structures. Team members are expected to follow designs, incorporate best practices and meet quality standards.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Fabricate armatures and assemblies by using welds and mechanical fasteners according to accepted methods.
• Positions, aligns, fits and welds parts together.
• Sets up and operates hand tools.
• Incorporates off-the-shelf parts into assembly as designed (e.g. bearings, pneumatic cylinders, etc).
• Verifies fabricated elements meet design specifications.
• Become familiar with the safe and correct operating procedures of metalworking equipment and tools in a job shop environment.
• Additional tasks as assigned.
• Basic understanding of pneumatics or electric motors is a plus.

Education and Experience:

• Expertise in basic metal shop tools including: drill press, band saws, oxy-acetylene and plasma torch, as well as all hand tools.
• Knowledge of Lathe and Mill a plus.
• Able to pass MiG and TiG certification tests for mild steel and stainless steel (LifeFormations to provide CWI to certify).
• 5-7 years of experience fabricating mechanical components or systems.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• A clean work history.
• Move quickly from one task to another.
