WHO WE ARE

Holland Hall was established in 1922 and currently serves approximately 1,000 preK through 12th grade students in a coeducational setting. THIS POSITION

The Technology Design and Innovation Faculty holds a pivotal teaching role, leveraging design thinking methodologies to cultivate innovation, craft technological solutions, and spearhead progressive initiatives across the school.

This is a new position for our school. We will be building an Innovation Lab for our middle school, and we anticipate fully using that new space by the 2026-2027 school year. In the interim, this role will be pivotal in developing both the program and physical environment to cater to students from 4th to 8th grades. This position will be familiar with grade level curriculum as well as departmental competencies and skills and will work with students to enhance their learning experience using technology and innovative practices. The goal is to foster creativity, problem-solving skills, and hands-on learning opportunities that prepare students for future challenges and opportunities in our increasingly digital world.

This position reports to Head of Middle School/Assistant Head of School and is a member of the Educational Technology Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Design and Instruction:
    • Teach classes in the new Innovation Space.
    • Collaborate with faculty to develop technology-integrated lesson plans that align with the school curriculum and educational technology competencies and skills.
  • Design and Innovation Space
    • Collaborate on researching and designing a cutting-edge Design and Innovation space within a new educational facility.
    • Once completed, instruct elective courses and facilitate various classes within the space. 
  • Innovation Strategy:
    • Develop and implement an innovation strategy to drive technology advancements and enhance organizational effectiveness.
    • Collaborate with the Academic Leadership Team and Educational Technology Department to align innovation efforts with strategic goals of the department and the institution.
    • Utilize design thinking methodologies to create user-centric and impactful solutions.
  • Research and Trend Analysis:
    • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
    • Conduct research to identify opportunities for technological innovation.

Working Conditions 

  • Work day from 7:45 to 3:45 p.m. The time required to perform this job may extend to hours outside department hours to include evenings and occasionally weekends.
  • Be able to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Activities include walking, standing, bending, kneeling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual activity. The work is performed primarily indoors.

Qualifications

Interested candidates must have a bachelor’s degree. Previous teaching experience with the target age is also desired. A master’s degree and independent school experience are preferred but not required. Special consideration will be given to exemplary candidates who can also support a significant extracurricular activity or coach a sport.
