Are you passionate about education and making a difference in the lives of adult learners? We are seeking dedicated and adaptable Substitute Teachers to provide high school-level instruction to students aged 18 and older during teacher absences. This role offers the opportunity to teach in person or remotely from designated learning centers across California, including but not limited to the following counties: Nevada, Riverside, Monterey, Kern, Los Angeles (Antelope Valley), Merced, Ventura, and Butte.
Schedule:
Monday - Thursday:
8:30 AM - 12:00 PM | Class
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM | Prep
5:00 PM - 8:00 PM | Class
Friday:
8:30 AM - 1:15 PM | Class
1:15 PM - 2:15 PM | Prep
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and deliver engaging lessons in multiple subject areas to a diverse student population in a self-contained classroom setting.
Utilize the Canvas learning management system to implement online courses.
Assess, monitor, and evaluate student performance through both online and in-class activities.
Assign and grade coursework, projects, tests, and assignments in alignment with curriculum standards.
Maintain accurate student records, including grading and attendance, using the Aeries student information system.
Support students by providing career and continuing education guidance in collaboration with school counselors.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment, encouraging appropriate behavior and participation.
Develop innovative learning activities tailored to adult students from diverse cultural, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds.
Uphold and teach core values that promote student success and engagement.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required.
Valid 30-Day Substitute Permit, Multiple Subject, or Single Subject Teaching Credential.
Experience working with rural or farmworking communities is a plus, but not required.
Strong understanding of online learning platforms and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
Ability to analyze student data to assess learning needs and adapt instruction accordingly.
Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
Effective communication and collaboration skills in a team-based environment.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical guidelines.
Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.
Mandatory Requirements:
Clearance of tuberculosis (TB) test before starting employment.
Clearance from the Department of Justice (DOJ) background check.
Additional Certifications:
Must obtain a current Food Certificate within 30 days of hire.
Must obtain a Child Care Providers Mandated Reporter Certificate within 90 days of hire.
Travel Requirements:
Must be willing to travel to learning centers as needed.
Physical Demands:
Regular use of to operate technology and instructional materials.
Frequent standing, sitting, reaching, and occasional lifting (up to 40 pounds).
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Work Environment:
Combination of in-person and remote teaching environments.
