What To Expect
Vehicle Engineering Tools and Operations covers the entire scope of global engineering standards, methods, and best practices in addition to developing and owning the software tools to support them. We are a highly cross-functional team with interfaces to HW engineering, SW engineering, manufacturing, and operations stakeholders. Scope of responsibility for the team. Developing, socializing, and implementing engineering standards, processes, and best practices across the global engineering organization. Aligning engineering standards and technology initiatives with interfacing teams throughout the global Tesla organization. Investigating new tools, methodologies, and systems to provide a strategic advantage in Tesla’s current or potential future business areas. Spearheading improvement initiatives within existing tools to improve efficiency and align with global standards and best practices. Protecting Tesla intellectual property and engineering design data while ensuring appropriate global accessibility.
As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for supporting a wide variety of cross-functional initiatives across the entire Vehicle Engineering Tools and Operations portfolio, with a primary focues on the areas of change management, product configuration management, and bill of materials (BOM) management. You will be tasked with supporting and in some cases leading projects through all stages of development; coordinating between multiple teams across engineering, supply chain, vehicle programs, manufacturing and operations leadership. You will organize and lead cross-functional engineering reviews for individual initiatives and for global standards and tools. In this role, you will have the chance to participate in the design and development of some of the most advanced vehicle technology projects in the world, with unparalleled agility.
What You'll Do Manage cross-functional projects from end-to-end, covering a range of areas across vehicle engineering vehicle engineering tools. Scope of projects range from complete new tools and initiatives to specific, high-profile improvement projectsSpearhead the development and improvement of standards, processes, tools associated with configuration management, change management, and BOM managementDemonstrate critical thinking by making data driven decisions that advance technology and processes critical to Tesla’s missionDevelop and manage project plans and ensure on-time delivery with aggressive timelinesDefine and drive the schedule for upcoming new project launches, new technology development milestones and sustaining programsConstantly work to evolve our processes and systems towards increasing precision and dependability, while still maintaining the agility that has gotten Tesla to where we are nowMaster documentation to track ongoing status of projects and issues ensuring that they are completed in a timely mannerLead the teams with strength and confidence through rapid development cycles, changing requirements, and uncertainty
What You'll Bring Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience5+ years experience in the use of industry-standard PLM products (Enovia, Teamcenter, Windchill) for the development, release, and maintenance of highly configurable automotive products2+ years' program/project management experience managing cross-functional software tools, including requirements gathering, stakeholder alignment, development, and deploymentExperience in fast paced environment with exposure to end-to-end product deployment — from concept through development and successful launch. This experience should ideally cover one or more complete product development and launch cyclesAbility to work independently with limited resources, tight deadlines, and a bias toward actionExperience building, developing and managing effective softwrare tools and processesExcellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills with ability to work in a highly cross-functionally environmentExcellent organization and delegation skills with ability to own the product roadmap and schedule with a track record of delivering projects on-timeAbility to inspire confidence in multiple layers of management from executive to associate levels, as the face of your programs Experience with manufacturing/procurement systems, tools, and methods commonly interfacing with PLM systems

Expected Compensation
$88,000 - $186,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
