Job Description
Ellendale Public School is seeking a K-12 guidance counselor. The counselor shall:
- Communicate, collaborate, and cooperate with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
- Work with the administrative leadership team to provide a comprehensive K-12 career / post-secondary education plan.
- Advise students on career pathways including post-secondary, work, and military options.
- Teach 7th grade Study Skills course & 8th grade Career Skills course.
- Work with administration and teachers to organize K-12 life skills / guidance program.
- Provide life skills and character counseling sessions to students in grades K-6th
- Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
- Design engaging classroom activities for elementary guidance lessons.
- Evaluate student performance, using that data to fine tune instruction to the needs of students.
- Maintain group discipline in a group setting.
- Organize educational records and classroom activities.
- Select learning targets and instructional materials.
- Assist in administration of state and local testing.
- Knowledge in use of technology to enhance and extend learning.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.

Specific software skills are not required but teaching, grading, and work systems are highly computerized so proficiencies or experience are beneficial. District classrooms are all configured with Interactive boards and students each have a 1:1 learning device so experience of these are beneficial as well. Teaching faculty also receive $1,350 in additional compensation to cover duties during pre-service and other PD days (up to six days).
