The Department of Transportation's Traffic Management Center (TMC), has an exciting opportunity for you. We are looking for a Regional Traffic Management Center Operator whose main objective is to keep the region moving safely and efficiently through the coordinated use of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), improved communications, and incident management techniques. In this role, you will monitor closed caption TV (CCTV), 800 MHz radio communications, police and fire scanners, and incident detection devices while evaluating current road conditions related to traffic, weather, and overall operations. You will identify the impact area of incidents and relay traveler information through highway advisory radio (HAR) devices, dynamic message signs, and variable message boards. Additionally, you will inform maintenance personnel about highway incidents or weather hazards that could endanger the public. You will also manage Service Patrol Vehicle activities by directing them to incidents and logging their actions, including notifying the State Police about abandoned vehicles that may create safety risks or hinder emergency responses. You will activate AMBER and MEPA Alerts as directed by the Pennsylvania State Police and develop Action Event Plans for special events like the Farm Show, Carlisle Fair Grounds, Hollywood Casino, and Hershey Park. It is essential to record all calls to and from the Traffic Management Center (TMC), verify the functionality of all equipment, and report any issues with Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices while monitoring current and future weather conditions and managing statewide road closures.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Sunday - Thursday or, Thursday - Monday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: - One year of experience evaluating and coordinating information related to traffic data, incidents or conditions.
