Job Description

Weekdays, 1st and 2nd Shift, Full-Time; Part-Time on Weekends! 

General Description:

The Recovery Coach will use aspects of their personal journey and skills learned in formal Recovery Coach Training to support a peer relationship as an avenue to support self determination and decision making. The Recovery Coach will promote recovery, remove barriers and connect people with recovery supports and encourage hope, optimism and healthy living. The Recovery Coach will support individuals enrolled in CBHC. The Recovery Coach will support multiple pathways to recovery to include harm reduction and prescribed medication supports as needed.

Essential Job Functions

  • Work in collaboration with individuals to support recovery skills. Use “common language” to reduce stigmatization.
  • Have extensive knowledge of resources that are available in the community to support recovery.
  • Help individuals navigate systems, self advocate and establish community connections.
  • Accompany individuals to meetings in order to support connection to include spiritual supports, 12 step supports and other avenues of recovery supports as determined by the individual. Encourage and support individual to build a natural support network.
  • Assist individuals in connecting with treatment and recovery support services, skill building and whole health lifestyle.
  • Support individual learning about community transportation to increase natural skills to support individual’s active community living. Transport to appointments when necessary.
  • Attend appointments with individuals and support a Wellness Plan as defined by Recovery Coach Guidelines with the person. Work within Adult CCS to collaborate for recovery supports.
  • Support, advocate and assist persons to establish safe and affordable community living and acting as a liaison with housing services. Support skills to maintain their home.
  • Communicate events and risk to supervisor
  • Meet with person regularly for short or long term Recovery Coach Supports.
  • Participate in all relevant staff meetings, team meetings, scheduled supervision and interagency meetings as defined. Keep supervisor up to date.
  • Report accidents or incidents immediately.
  • Understand and support persons with knowledge that recovery is a process that may have interruptions and setbacks. Support that events like these are not failures but opportunities to build stronger recovery skills and a natural part of the recovery process. There are multiple pathways to recovery.

  Administrative functions

  • Complete all required paperwork and documentation in timely manner.
  • Support and maintain agency principles, policies and procedures.
  • Attend all required trainings.

  Other Requirements :

  • Must have a driver’s license and a registered, personally insured vehicle for use during work hours.
  • Lived experience with strong personal recovery skills and professional skills to self disclose in a manner that is trauma sensitive for the purpose of promoting recovery and wellness for persons served.
  • One year of continuous sobriety
  • Ability to pass CORI and DMV check.
  • Schedule may include weekends and evening hours.

  Qualifications

  • Certification from an approved Recovery Coach curriculum required within six months of hire. Certification at time of hire preferred.
  • GED/ HS Diploma.
  • 3-5 years of Human Service background preferred.

  Skills

  • Open to medication assisted treatment and harm reduction concepts and goals.
  • Proficient Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Community Resources and support for links in the community.
  • Strong listening, oral and presentation (communication) skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a diverse community.
  • Ability to honor Recovery Coaching Ethics, skills and confidentiality/HIPAA

  • First Aid
  • OSHA
  • BSAS required trainings, including but not limited to Opioid Overdose Prevention, Medication Assisted Treatment, HIV and Hep C.
  • Corporate Compliance
  • And all required and applicable Brien Center trainings/ meetings.

  Working Conditions

  •  Works in various places in the community and at other Brien Center sites.

  • Lifting maximums: weight of grocery bags and/ or laundry baskets
  • Push, pull, stand, reach overhead and twist
  • Able to bend at knees, waist and lower self to the ground or floor without assistance
  • Able to physically climb and descend stairs without assistance
