Norris Middle School is seeking applications for a full-time school counselor for the 2025-2026 school year. The selected candidate will collaborate with an experienced middle school counselor to implement best practices that support students, staff, and the school community.
We are looking for a dedicated individual who is passionate about fostering student success, addressing student needs, and contributing to a positive school environment.
COUNSELING RESPONSIBILITIES
Follows American School Counseling Association (ASCA) model for best practices in school counseling
Works with current PBIS and MTSS committees to determine how to best support students and determine Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 processes
Drafts and communicates 504 plans to all stakeholders
Student schedule facilitator – Works with administration and teachers to create master schedule and make student schedule changes throughout the year
New student ambassador to help students transition to Norris Middle School
Facilitate and assist with social emotional curriculum planning and implementation
Provides individualized and small group guidance and social emotional instruction
Supports transitions of students into 6th grade and from 8th grade into 9th grade
Communicates with students, parents, and teachers on student progress academically, behaviorally, and emotionally.
Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in supporting students.
Participates in and guides parents to developmental programs and community resources, including SCIP referrals
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which he/she will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.
Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Selects and requisitions consumable supplies, equipment, and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.
Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property.
Participates in the curriculum review process and other professional development programs.
Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
Performs other duties as needed, as assigned by the supervisor.
