Industrial Engineer (Junior) Description This role is in Robinson Helicopter’s Lean Manufacturing Department. The Lean Manufacturing Department performs dual roles in Industrial Engineering and Lean Manufacturing. The mission is to implement Lean Manufacturing in all areas of production, repair / overhaul, fabrication, warehousing and support using Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen and other Lean Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering techniques.
Responsibilities - Develop principal work standards and line balancing for productivity.
- Identify manufacturing cost reductions and provide ROI justifications for change.
- Optimize machining processes to reach product quality, efficiency and process repeatability.
- Execute LEAN manufacturing techniques and design.
- Optimize workflow and cell designs and introduce cost-effective automation for productivity and safety advantages.
- Design machines and tools for new products or processes.
- Track and execute cost reduction for process improvements.
- Plan, execute and manage projects to complete through product continuous improvement.
- Communicate Lean Manufacturing philosophy, vision and expectations.
- Develop and sustain employees’ training and development on lean concepts.
- Develop measurement systems supporting lean manufacturing philosophy.
- Lead value stream mapping exercises to determine and record business improvement areas.
- Develop and implement project plans to achieve a future State.
- Plan and reach expense budget objectives and capital items.
Industrial Engineer (Junior) Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering
Basic Experience Supporting Lean Manufacturing Efforts - Fundamental foundational knowledge of manufacturing processes, systems optimization, and efficiency improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency in using industrial engineering tools and software, such as CAD for layout and fixture designs.
- Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to analyze work processes, workflows, and systems to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
- Basic knowledge of project management principles and the ability to manage small projects or components of larger projects initially. Project scope and size will increase with experience.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Desire to learn and develop skills in I.E. and Lean Manufacturing.
Minimum Requirements - Proficiency with MS Office software.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with customers and team members, problem-solving abilities to address customer complaints effectively, and strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
