Who We Are We are a textile recycling/manufacturing company located in Irvington, NJ specializing in Food Packaging for Shipping of Refrigerated and Frozen ingredients as well as the manufacturing of Mattress Components and Insulator Pads by recycling fibers.
Hours/Shift: Monday-Friday, 3:30pm-12:00am Overview & Essential Job Functions Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for conducting machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance services, as well as performing routine building and facility maintenance duties. The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic will also be responsible for the overall operations on evening shift including production efficiency, quality control and staffing.
- Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Prepares machinery for scheduled production runs.
- Diagnose malfunctions and perform necessary repairs or replace defective parts.
- Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.
- Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Perform daily routine preventive maintenance and maintain accurate daily repair logs.
- Track inventory machinery/equipment with their respective spare parts.
- Comply with OSHA safety and health rules.
- Training: May be requested to provide training to future machine operators in their perspective roles.
- Any additional duties as needed
Minimum Requirements - High School Diploma or GED equivalent desired
- Superior reading and writing English, basic Spanish speaking ability is an asset
- 3-5 years’ of experience in a maintenance technician role, or related position, preferably in a manufacturing/packaging environment.
- Knowledge with the following: Accepted practices and processes in the maintenance trades; electric motors, relays, PLCs, electro-mechanical equipment and systems found in machinery; servicing and maintenance of simple power, heating and cooling units.
- Read and work from sketches, drawings and blueprints; understand occupational hazards and safety precautions of the machinery.
- Ability to read and understand product specifications.
- Forklift experience.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. multiple times a day
- Ability to perform basic mathematical operations. Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and stand for extended period of time.
- 2-3 years of supervisory or lead experience
