Job Description

DESCRIPTION

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

The AIS-SC Networking Silicon team is looking for a results-oriented individual to own supply management, analytics, and metrics for Networking silicon. This individual will own the metrics and reporting for supply strategy and relationship with multiple silicon suppliers, interact with Commodity Manager, Global Supply Manager, and Product Lifecycle Manager colleagues to manage performance of ramping up new product platforms, and optimizing results for sustaining platforms. Our Global Supply Managers are (or become) experts in their industries and help drive the explosive growth of AWS.

General Responsibilities:

- Create and execute supply planning strategies to meet the category, department, project and customer needs
- Prioritize activities and align with stakeholders to deliver supply globally with a high degree of predictability
- Manage supplier relationships and allocation of material to demands based on priority
- Be a subject matter expert for the customers, technologies, and markets in which you engage
- Manage cross-functional projects against plans and objectives to meet commitments and goals
- Identify and drive realization of opportunities for durable, relative advantage in your category

Key job responsibilities
- Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify supply base opportunities to minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and utilize industry developments that benefit Amazon
- Identify and pursue opportunities to leverage and consolidate the supply base using system level tools and techniques
- Understand forecasting, demand planning, material/supply/inventory planning, and manufacturing processes/capacity to verify supply commitments
- Manage supply buffers and allocation to shorten lead times and build resiliency into the supply chain without driving excess
- Drive supplier improvement initiatives to continually lower risk and reduce lead times
- Influence suppliers' manufacturing processes, technology decisions, and policies in ways that are mutually beneficial and sustainable for both organizations
- Create and send monthly forecasts, and measure supplier commitments against demand

A day in the life
As a Global Supply Manager, you will be part of a three-pillar category team (Sourcing, Supply Chain, PLM) that will own end-to-end management of a specific category of networking hardware. You will participate in technical engineering reviews, collaborate on inventory and supply strategies, advise on supply chain objectives. Your role is fundamental to optimal product management of cloud networking hardware. You will develop deep and practical knowledge of the hardware you manage as well as its application in the AWS network.

About the team
You will join a team of highly capable and driven sourcing and supply chain managers who have experience from inside and outside the tech/networking industry. We are continually diving deeper into the supply chain and product design with our engineering, component and ODM partners. Although we have a ways to go, we have a heavy focus on automation and tools creation. We encourage and empower our team members be "builders", just as much as we are sourcing, supply, and product lifecycle managers. This is a great place to apply and enhance your knowledge of technology, take ownership for your space, and grow into a future leader.
