Classification: Firefighter/EMT
The Bradenton Fire Department is creating an eligibility list to fill three Firefighter/EMT positions. Applicants must complete the FireTEAM test and possess a valid CPAT certification. A City of Bradenton employment application and the Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) are also required.
Salary Information:
Starting salary: $55,879 annually (including holiday pay)
Promotional increases over four years
Step increases every five years (up to 20th year)
Educational incentive pay for associate and bachelor's degrees
Specialty pay available for certain assignments

Department Information:
The Bradenton Fire Department serves the city in emergency management, fire suppression, fire prevention, and first-response capacities.

Approximately 7,500 calls

Six basic life support (BLS) engine companies
One aerial ladder
One special operations/technical rescue unit

Job Requirements:
Minimum Age: 18
Citizenship: U.S. Citizen
Education: High school diploma or GED
Driver's License: Valid Florida license
Language: Ability to read and speak English
Vision: As required by NFPA 1582
Certifications:
State of Florida Firefighter II
State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician
Post-Hiring Requirements:
Completion of courses related to probationary/promotional policies (e.g., ICS, NIMS, fire science courses, EMT re-certification).

Criminal Record:
Conviction of a misdemeanor involving perjury, false statements, or moral turpitude
Felony conviction or any crime punishable by imprisonment of one year or more
Dishonorable discharge from the U.S. Armed Forces
Driving Record:
Poor driving history may be considered undesirable but not necessarily disqualifying
Drug Use:
Pre-employment testing and ongoing compliance with the City's Drug-Free Workplace policy required
