Salary Range: $74,368 - $108,473 annually
Overview
The City of Gresham seeks applicants for Firefighter/EMT Basic and Firefighter/Paramedic roles. This position serves Gresham, Oregon's fourth-largest city, as well as the surrounding areas of Troutdale, Fairview, Wood Village, and unincorporated Multnomah County. Firefighters are responsible for responding to fire suppression and emergency medical service calls.
An eligibility list will be created for an anticipated recruit academy, with future vacancies filled from this list.

Department Overview
Gresham Fire operates from seven fire stations, including a joint station with Portland Fire. Each apparatus provides Advanced Life Support (ALS) and is staffed with at least one certified Firefighter Paramedic. The department offers specialty teams including HazMat, Water Rescue, Technical Rescue, SCBA Technician, and SWAT Medic, and has a modern fleet.

Job Requirements
Age: 18 by date of hire
Citizenship: Must be authorized to work in the USA
Education: High school diploma or GED required
Driver's License: Valid state driver's license required
Language: Proficient in English
Vision: Correctable to 20/40
Certification: Oregon EMT Basic, Intermediate, or Paramedic certification required by job offer; Paramedic certification preferred. Valid CPAT required.
Preferred Experience
Preference may be given to candidates with previous career experience in fire departments and/or Paramedic certification.
Specific Disqualifiers and Behaviors
Personal History and Background:
A completed NTN Personal History Questionnaire is mandatory. Disqualifying factors include felony convictions, certain misdemeanor convictions, prohibited drug use, serious driving offenses, employment misconduct, and financial judgments or dishonorable discharges from military service. Use of illegal substances, including marijuana, during the selection process or academy training will result in disqualification.
Employment Disqualifiers:
Applicants may be disqualified for serious or repeated misconduct, unexcused absences, theft, or dishonesty in previous employment.
Driving Disqualifiers:
Traffic offenses, such as driving under the influence, vehicular homicide, or multiple license suspensions, may also disqualify candidates.
Additional Disqualifiers:
Any applicant with membership in an organization advocating crime or violent overthrow of the government, or with patterns of alcohol or drug abuse within the past two years, may be disqualified. False statements, failure to disclose information, or fraudulent behavior in the application or testing process may result in removal from consideration.
