Fiber Splicer
Location: Durham, NC (Must live within 1-hour commute to client office)
Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Hours: 40 hours per week (rotating on-call shifts, including some weekends)
Pay: Based on experience
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Fiber Splicer to join our team and help build and maintain a reliable telecommunications network. In this role, you will perform fiber splicing tasks to ensure seamless data transmission across our growing network. This position requires a strong commitment to quality and safety while working in various environments, including underground and aerial installations.
Responsibilities:
Perform fiber optic splicing and cable upgrades with guidance, both aerially and underground
Test, activate, and troubleshoot network circuits post-installation
Ensure all splicing operations meet customer and industry standards
Work safely at various heights and confined spaces
Conduct routine maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks
Accurately document work performed through daily production reports, map markups, and material usage records
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older
Legally authorized to work in the United States
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
Valid state driver’s license (non-provisional) with an acceptable driving record
Ability to pass a DOT physical exam and obtain a valid medical card
Minimum of 6 months of fiber splicing experience or one year of experience in the telecommunications industry
Additional Qualifications:
Understanding of telecommunications network structure
Availability for after-hours call-outs as needed
