Job Overview

Steed Industries LLC is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join our growing team. As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in preparing accurate and competitive bids for commercial concrete projects throughout Montana. Your ability to analyze plans, perform detailed takeoffs, and develop precise cost estimates will ensure our projects are financially sound and aligned with client expectations. Key Responsibilities

  • Project Takeoffs: Perform detailed takeoffs from construction plans, calculating volume, linear foot, square foot, and cubic yard measurements for accurate material and labor requirements.
  • Plan Analysis: Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and details to identify scope, materials, and potential challenges.
  • Cost Estimation: Prepare precise cost estimates using Excel, accounting for labor, materials, equipment, and overhead, with a strong understanding of markup and margins.
  • Cost Codes & Job Costing: Assign and manage cost codes to ensure accurate job costing aligned with project budgets and financial tracking.
  • Bid Preparation: Develop comprehensive, competitive bid proposals in line with project requirements and company standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify project details and ensure accurate, complete estimates.
  • Data Management: Maintain organized records of estimates, takeoffs, and supporting documentation for future reference and analysis.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor market trends, material costs, and labor rates to ensure estimates remain competitive and realistic.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in estimating, preferably within commercial concrete construction.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete construction methods, materials, and measurement techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with construction estimating software is a plus.
  • Understanding of cost codes, job costing, markup, and margin calculations.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail when reviewing plans and specifications.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration with project teams and clients.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple estimates simultaneously.

Schedule

Full-Time: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts.
