Job Description

One of our clients is seeking a senior Enterprise Data Modeler to develop data models for enterprise data assets and support the implementation of a cloud-based data management platform. The role involves translating business needs into conceptual, logical, and physical data models, optimizing data systems, and ensuring consistency across the enterprise information framework. The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of experience in data modeling, strong communication skills, and proficiency with various data technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create conceptual data models to identify key business entities, visualize relationships, define concepts, and establish rules.
  • Translate business requirements into logical and physical data models for client hierarchies, and document data designs for development teams.
  • Present modeling results and recommendations to stakeholders and explain features affecting the physical data model.
  • Develop canonical models, Data as a Service models, and apply SOA knowledge to support integrations.
  • Perform data profiling/analysis to establish, modify, and maintain data models and support usage of MDM toolkits.
  • Integrate source systems into MDM solutions, implement business rules for data reconciliation and deduplication, and enforce naming standards.
  • Establish processes for governing corporate metadata, data quality tracking, data redundancy, and improvement.
  • Conduct data capacity planning, lifecycle studies, feasibility studies, and propose strategic data integration solutions.
  • Create strategies for data security, backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and archiving in compliance with regulations.
  • Write complex queries (SQL, Python, R, Scala) and work with data technologies such as Azure Synapse, SQL Server, Snowflake, and Databricks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, present findings in user-friendly language, and ensure data models meet business needs.

Requirements

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling.
  • Proven ability to translate business needs into detailed data models and documentation.
  • Strong experience presenting modeling results to internal stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Expertise in developing canonical and Data as a Service models with SOA knowledge.
  • Extensive experience performing data profiling, analysis, and maintaining MDM solutions.
  • Deep understanding of data integration challenges and strategic solutions.
  • Ability to establish governance processes for metadata, data quality, and redundancy.
  • Experience with data capacity planning, lifecycle analysis, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in writing advanced queries using SQL, Python, R, or Scala.
  • Familiarity with data technologies such as Azure Synapse, SQL Server, Snowflake, and Databricks.

Additional Information

  • Local Richmond, VA candidates required.
  • On-site interviews only – no exceptions.
  • Candidate must be willing to work on-site 2-3 days a week.
  • Contractor is responsible for parking arrangements.
  • Potential for contract extension annually beyond June 30, 2025.
