Job Title: Grants & Data Manager

Reports to: Executive Director

Full-time: 37.5 Hours Week

Salary : $40/hour

Job Posting: February 2025

Position Overview: An exciting opportunity for a grant professional looking to help organize and enhance the grants program for a growing organization. The Grants & Data Manager position is a full-time position, 37.5 hours a week, with the opportunity to work both in-person and remotely on occasion. Higher Ground was founded seventeen years ago with a $1,000 donation and now has an organizational budget of over $1 million. It is an exciting time for Higher Ground International, having just purchased our own building in the Fall of 2022, recently launching a capital campaign, and being awarded a $100,000 endowed fund at the Rhode Island Foundation. The Grants & Data Manager will be an integral part of setting the organization up for long-term success.

About Higher Ground International: Higher Ground International (HGI) is a forward-thinking and culturally grounded social impact nonprofit organization. We are dedicated to advocating for, empowering, and providing life-changing services to Liberian and West African immigrants, refugees, and other marginalized communities. We seek to restore dignity, empower lives, and keep peace through work that centers and celebrates the cultural heritage and unique individuality of those we serve. The services we offer include basic necessity supplies, culturally appropriate food, job readiness training, financial assistance, immigration support, community gatherings, the Sweetie Care African Elders Enrichment Day Program, and case management services.

Duties and Responsibilities : The Grants & Data Manager will support the following activities:

· Support the organization’s existing grants program, including writing renewal applications for and reporting on program progress to the organization’s ongoing funders from the State of Rhode Island, the City of Providence, local foundations, and local corporations.

· Lead, manage, and organize the organization’s grants schedule, ensuring deadlines are tracked, all organizational documents are up-to-date, and grant narratives are updated to reflect the organization’s work.

· Research new potential funding opportunities and review all new opportunity guidelines to help the organization determine if the opportunity is something it should pursue.

· Work with other HGI staff, including the bookkeeper, to ensure all required grant activities, such as tracking expenses and managing program participant data, are completed accurately and efficiently.

· Develop and engage in funder stewardship activities, which include thanking funders, inputting grant awards into the organization’s donor database, and keeping funders updated about the organization’s work.

· Cultivate new funders by engaging in funder research, introductory meetings, site visits, or the development of promotional materials to be sent to funders.

· Develop and maintain a system for tracking program outputs and outcomes, including both quantitative and qualitative data.

· Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications : The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in researching, writing, and managing grants, including government, foundation, and corporate grants, and a proven track record of having success in securing grant funds for nonprofit organizations. The ideal candidate will also have experience tracking and meeting deadlines, preparing professional organizational applications and materials, documenting and reporting organizational outputs and outcomes, and engaging with local funders. Other ideal experience includes the following:

· Strong organizational and project management skills.

· The ability to juggle multiple deadlines and projects.

· Knowledge of the funding landscape in Rhode Island and nationally.

· The ability to work independently and manage deadlines without daily oversight.

· A history of leading grant program/application development processes, including coordinating teams.

· Cultivating and stewarding funder relationships.

The ideal candidate will also have the following characteristics:

· Must be dependable, honest, self-motivated, and able to motivate others.

· Must have a strong work ethic.

· Must be a team player and willing to take and follow supervision.

· Positive, open, caring, non-judgmental, and with no patronizing demeanor.

· Excellent judgment and decision-making abilities.

· Strong organizational, time management, written, and verbal communication skills.

· Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook/Gmail.

· Must be passionate about social justice and uplifting those who have been traditionally marginalized and under-served.

How to Apply : Please send a resume and a cover letter explaining your qualifications and interest in the position to Higher Ground International’s Fund Development Consultant at Sarah@CharisRI.com. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Please put HGI Grants & Data Manager in the subject line. No phone calls, please. Higher Ground is an equal-opportunity employer and encourages applications from BIPOC and other traditionally underrepresented candidates.
