Greene County Family PlanningJob Announcement: ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (HELP Program)HOURLY RATE: $21.67 (Grade 9, Step 0)This is a Non-competitive appointment under the Hiring Emergency Limited Placement (HELP) Program.The appointment will mature into a permanent, Competitive position without further testing & upon the successful completion of a 52-week probationary period.This position involves assisting a department head or administrator by expediting, coordinating, and interpreting departmental policies and procedures to staff in administrative matters. The incumbent performs management functions including, but not limited to, program planning, budgeting, personnel management and supervision, fiscal management, reporting, and program evaluation in order to allow the department head or administrator to focus on planning, policymaking, and attention to duties requiring technical knowledge. Work is performed in accordance with policies and objectives outlined by the administrator, with wide leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in applying policy to specific cases. The incumbent does related work as required.FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of office management, including knowledge of personnel methods and procedures, organizational reporting and communication and supervisory principles and techniques; Thorough knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment; Thorough knowledge of business arithmetic and English; Good knowledge of statistical techniques, particularly in relation to the collection and tabulation of raw data; Good knowledge of various computer and/or web authoring programs; Ability to train and supervise employees in office methods and procedures; Ability to organize and assign work for others; Ability to get along well with subordinates and others and to secure their cooperation; Resourcefulness in the solution of complex administrative problems.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree and one (1) year of full-time office management, administrative or supervisory experience in the field of accounting, public or business administration, financial management or personnel administration/human resource management; ORB. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or technical or business institute or one recognized by the NYS Education Department with an Associate Degree and three (3) years of experience as described in A above; ORC.
